Millennia Hydrogen Gas Detection Systems for Fuel-Cell Operations - Combustible Gas Sensors

CONTACT SALES

Hydrogen fuel is a highly explosive NEC-Class I, Div 1, Group B rated gas and requires NEC-Group B approved gas sensors to monitor hydrogen buildup due to leakage from fuel cell operations.

Intrinsic Safety is better than XP – Intrinsic Safety cuts costs. Competitor’s hydrogen sensors are Explosion Proof (XP), hydrogen sensor fuel cell operations involving costly pressure tested conduit. IS sensors do not. Also, XP sensors require either shut down of the gas detection systems or removal of all gas storage tanks and hydrogen fueled vehicles from the facility before performing sensor maintenance or replacement. IS does not. These are costly and time consuming penalties for XP.

New Approval – Rel-Tek has been issued an Intrinsic Safety (IS) approval for its GasBoss/H2 sensors and matching IS barriers. This opens doors for large savings over XP throughout the USA and Canada.

Normal wiring installation – IS sensors use normal wiring and open conduit, simplifying and cutting the cost of installation. No Declassification of facility -- Unlike with XP sensors, Rel-Tek’s new Group B IS approval enables its IS hydrogen sensors to be serviced while under power, and without having to remove the hydrogen-fueled vehicles from the garage facility… a massive, on-going cost savings for the operator.

Automatic calibration -- Another unique cost savings is MagiKal, Rel-Tek’s automatic sensor calibration feature. hydrogen sensor fuel cell operations automatic calibration - magikal No more ladders and lifts placing technical personnel in danger, and no more costly portable calibration gas tanks and dispensing apparatus to buy. The usual costly and troublesome manual calibration process is passé. Auto-cal gas is from large tanks costing a tiny fraction of the gas per liter of small portable tanks, and lasting for years. The Millennia computer automatically provides full documentation and archiving of calibration dates/times and before/after sensor values. The cost savings from labor and cal-gas will likely exceed the original cost of the entire gas detection system in about five years.

Covers all alt-fuels -- The GasBoss/H2 detects LEL hydrogen, as well as all other alt-fuel gases. Note that competitor’s optical (NDIR) sensor technology is incapable of detecting hydrogen, so it’s not a candidate for fuel cell operations. So, if your plant or garage handles H2, as well as other alt-fueled vehicles, a Rel-Tek system covers detection of H2, CNG, LNG and LPG.

Matching IS Barrier – The Dual-Channel Intrinsic Safety Barrier, Model DBL-GB is a companion to the GasBoss/H2 sensor. Like the sensor approval, it is rated intrinsically safe outputs for Classes 1, 2 and 3 (gas, dust, and fiber) -- Division 1, Groups B, C, D. The barrier provides intrinsically safe sensor power and signal communications through to the computer.
