The CO2Boss is available in three versions: CO2Boss/I Industrial – Harsh locations (top picture) CO2Boss/C Commercial (middle picture) CO2Boss/E Economy “No frills” (bottom picture)
The CO2Boss is proven product, representing many generations of enhanced circuitry, simplified hardware and maintenance, and extended useful life.
The optional digital meter: 4 digits cover the standard range 0-5000 ppm - contact Rel-Tek for other available ranges. The
4-20mA analog output signal is standard. The electronics is modularized and potted to make it impervious to moisture and dust. Easy change out avoids complex field PCB repairs.
Carbon dioxide is an energetic molecule which diffuses quickly throughout an area, so precise positioning in the area is generally not critical to the monitoring operation.
It is 49% heavier than air - install generally BESIDE and BELOW the CO2 producing source.
For protecting human life from the beginning suffocation level of 5000 ppm in CO2 conditions, install at breathing level where people are likely to be at work or rest.
The CO2Boss/I unit is designed to be mounted upright, with the sensor head toward the bottom – to best shed water and dust -- although attitude does not generally affect performance. It is good practice to keep unit away from dripping water, high temperatures, high voltages, chemical fumes, etc. that can cause false readings or shorten the cell life. Use four screws or bolts to attach unit to a flat surface. Mounting hardware is customer supplied. Calibration ports supplied on both the C and E versions, I version requires calibration adapter.
A self-compensating, 3-wire, 4-20mA output driver circuit is incorporated in the potted electronics to maintain the signal current level constant over a wide range of line-plus-load resistance. 9.5 volts is the basic requirement needed at the terminal for the CO2Boss operation. The allowable load-plus-line resistance is dependent on the source voltage V(s).
The CO2Boss sensors are warranted against initial factory defects for one year. See full warranty for details. Although actual cell life in your application cannot be guaranteed, the CO2 cell life expectancy is typically three years, with some still functioning after eight years. These sensors are not approved for use in hazardous areas.
